I Thought it Was all Over...It is Now

Lambing 2014 has ended with a twist. Completely unexpectedly, both the last expectant ewe and ewe lamb gave birth today. But that was not the end of it. When out lookering, I discovered a "barren" ewe short. It was one that had been scanned to have no lambs. There I found her, at the opposite end of the field to the others, doting over her newborn. A very positive note to end Lambing 2014 on.

Last lamb of lambing 2014

There should not be any more surprises  now. The rams were taken out early enough to make a May lambing an impossibility.

This year, lambing has gone as well as I could have hoped for. Even still, I would have to agree with Elizabeth Elder who wrote in this week's Farmer's Weekly and said "The best part of lambing is when it's over".
