Busy Barn Owls are a Joy to Watch

Over the past couple of weeks the adult barn owls have been very busy hunting for food for their hungry young. Our guests have had regular sightings of the birds' comings and goings to the barn in the late afternoon and early evening. The owls' low flypasts over the fields, past the oast and down to the valley have been a source of delight to all. They have been  watched with interest on their return to see if they have caught anything for the owlets' supper.

Today, whilst preparing for our next shepherd’s hut guests, I  went into the barn and much to my surprise discovered one of the owls sitting on a beam. On seeing me, it casually jumped onto the next two beams before disappearing into the nesting box. Wow!

At Hare Farm we are truly privileged to live alongside such beautiful birds.

Now all Stuart and I need to do, is to down tools early one evening, grab a nice cold drink and sit on the garden seat and watch the flying display.
