Events for 2017
3rd February 2017
A little overdue, but hopefully it's still useful to jot down a few events that are up and coming in and around the area. Hare Farm straddles the unspoilt Brede Valley and is in the heart of 1066 Country, so not too far from the historic towns of Rye, Hastings and Battle.
Here are just a few events that you may fancy joining in on...
RYE SCALLOP WEEK (Feb 18-26)
When the restaurants of Rye get together to celebrate their local hero, the Rye Bay scallop. Menus adapt to showcase the scallop in all manner of dishes, and there's also special demonstrations, cookery schools and live music too.
And if the draw of preparing your own scallop dishes in your lovely roundel kitchen at the Oast or on the camp fire at the Hut is too much to ignore, visit one of several fish stalls in Rye to purchase the best of what the Rye waters has to offer.

LAMBING AT HARE FARM (March 10-31)
The lambing courses may well be full up now, but there's still a chance to gain an insight into what goes on at lambing time by staying in either the shepherd's hut or the oast house, both set very close to the hive of lambing activity. We'll all be busy working in the lambing sheds during March, and would be pleased to welcome guests into the foray for a little while. Take a look here for hut availability and oast availability.
JACK IN THE GREEN FESTIVAL (May 1)
When the streets of Hastings come to life with outrageous costumes and happiness. It's a festival of traditional dance when teams from across Europe descend on the coastal town to proceed through the streets and celebrate on the top of the town. A fun day for all the family.
BATTLE MEDIEVAL FAYRE (28-29 May)
A free event to go to, where the old traditions of a medieval fayre come to life in Battle's streets and abbey. Jesting, juggling and general tomfoolery provide lots of games and entertainment, and there's plenty of food and drink to keep you going all day.
RYE JAZZ FESTIVAL (24-28 Aug)
A boutique music festival where international musicians take residence in Rye for the week and entertain in intimate venues across the town. Music genres cover jazz, blues, R&B, soul, funk and latin.
