Hop Picking Years

We had the pleasure of meeting Tony and his family a few weeks ago. He came to visit the farm where he used to spend his holidays in the hop gardens back in the 50s and 60s.

Tony gave us a fascinating insight into how life used to be in those days, when Hare Farm was a thriving hop farm and the oast house was the king pin of the farm buildings.

We were fortunate that Tony wrote down in his own words his memories of hop picking at Hare Farm, also leaving behind some photos and other snippets. What better timing than now to post these memories in our blog. September is hop picking season. Click here to read his personal story.

Thank you Tony for giving up your time to share those precious memories with us.
