Lambing is Looming

The ewes have all been crutched out this week.

Crutching involves removing the wool, via a shearing machine, from around the ewe’s rear end and from the udder. Consequently, lambing symptoms can be seen more easily, it is cleaner as well as aids in the prevention of blowfly strike in the spring and summer.  The new born lambs can also find the teats more quickly and easily in the crucial first few hours of life.

The countdown to lambing continues........
