Picturesque Rye in Mapp and Lucia

What a feast for the eyes has BBC1's Mapp and Lucia given us during these last two evenings whilst cosying up to the fire.

Mapp and Lucia was filmed in the Summer, at various locations within the streets for Rye, plus on a few locations beyond. As locals, we embraced the film crew's immersion into our very special local town, knowing that the stories of EF Benson's Mapp and Lucia were conceived here whilst EF Benson lived here in the 20s. So "Tilling" was based on Rye's own streets and community, so how could we not embrace the filming of this oh-so charming story.

Mapp and Lucia in Rye

Rye has always been a draw for those looking to explore an ancient town, with so many unspoilt medieaval streets and buildings, arts, culture and gastronomy. It now looks set to be even more popular in 2015, having been delightfully showcased on prime time BBC1. And we still have one more episode left...enjoy!

Hare Farm is just a 10 minute drive from Rye. The Oast is a large self catering holiday home and sleeps 12. The shepherd's hut sleeps 2.
