Springtime

Spring has at last arrived and we welcome it with open arms! Warm sunny day's and gentle breezes are gradually drying the water logged fields making a happier environment for the lambs and their mothers along with the wildlife in general. The lambs are having a wonderful time gambling en masse around and under the Shepherd's Hut and playing 'king of the castle' on the earth mound in the Oast field.

The Marsh frogs are in fine (loud!) voice and Woodpeckers and Cuckoos can be heard on my early morning walk through fields lined with frothy white hedgerows of blackthorn blossom.

It has been a challenging year for lambing and although the daily work carries on out in the fields - feeding nuts, checking every lamb is accounted for and healthy, bottle feeding etc etc, the arrival of Spring makes it much easier and lightens all our spirits.......and it's great to be able to leave all the waterproof clothing at home!!
