lambing holidays

The self catering Oast House and Shepherd's Hut are right in the thick of things at lambing time. Stay on the farm in a cottage that sleeps 10 or 2 and you will be surrounded by new life. Mothers and lambs graze and play right up to your holiday accommodation, and even underneath it, if you are in the shepherd's hut

How to get involved at lambing time

From mid March to early April, lambs are born every day. There are 900 ewes due to lamb this year. If you stay at Hare Farm, we can arrange for you to take a look in the lambing sheds and experience the lambing experience first hand. Younger guests can also help at bottle feeding time - just ask and we'll fit you in. We also organise lambing workshops and courses, and can tailor them to when you are staying on the farm and times that suit you. Alternatively, book in to a pre-arranged lambing course which are open to overnight or day guests, taking place in March 2020.

Lambing holidays mean lambs are everywhere

Stay on a farm during lambing time, in either the shepherds hut or the oast and you will be surrounded by ewes and lambs in the fields. What an experience to see them play right up to your hut (even under it!) and oast garden. You'll see the team at work in the fields, checking on the flock and moving the sheep and lambs from field to field, and close to your door.

Lambing season 2020

10 March to end April. From May, there may be no more new born lambs but the young lambs are all around your self catering farm stay, right through the Summer too.

Lambing location

Indoors in the farm sheds at Hare Farm, near Rye. Just a minute's walk from the self catering accommodation of the Oast and Hut.

Gain a hands-on insight by attending a day-long lambing course  on 3 dates in March 2020. 11th, 13th and 17th March. 10-4pm. £100 per person, including lunch.
